The Hermes Orchestra is a modern chamber ensemble performing the music of Dan Hermes.

The group went public in May of 2003 with a concert at the Tremont Theatre in Boston, USA.  Heard on national and international radio, the Hermes Orchestra proceeds down an aesthetic path towards the future of music and visual art. The musicians hail from institutions such as New England Conservatory, Eastman School of Music, Berklee, Shenandoah Conservatory, Boston University, and have played festivals and events at Tanglewood and Oberlin.  International in scope, the musicians have toured Europe, South America, Taiwan, and Japan. These musicians have collectively performed in over a dozen jazz, rock, and funk bands, infusing the Hermes Orchestra with the essential element of the groove.

The Hermes Orchestra believes that classical and contemporary styles will not remain separate for much longer.  This Orchestra’s musicians play tight grooves and phrase melodies expertly and with eloquence. Their compositions and arrangements value a carefully placed drum kick as highly as an unforgettable cello line.

The Hermes Orchestra merges these elements deftly to create a truly modern and mature new music.
